Case Study — STOP OVER
A one-of-a-kind, VC-backed travel platform that converts 6+ hour layovers into fully planned micro vacations — flights, hotels, itineraries, cabs, and local guides, all booked in one place, all timed to the minute.
The Client
Our client leads a product management division as a financial data analyst at BlackRock in the US. His family has run a traditional travel agency for over 20 years — and he was ready to take it over.
But he didn't want to just digitize the old business. He wanted to build something genuinely new on top of it — without disturbing what already worked.
The Problem
Fly long-haul from any Western country and it's almost guaranteed: a layover of 6 hours. Sometimes a full day.
A whole city outside.
And millions of travelers
stuck inside the airport.
Why nobody steps out
They don't know the local city, language, or transport
One delay outside means a missed connecting flight
Planning a safe micro trip means juggling five different platforms — flights here, hotels there, guides somewhere else
So the safest choice was always the worst one: wait it out at the gate.
The Idea
Pick your route and your city. STOP OVER plans the entire itinerary for the exact duration of your layover — and every suggested flight and trip passes through multiple trust-score checks that verify the plan actually fits the layover before it's ever offered.
And if there's time for more, one long trip becomes several short ones. New York to Bangkok? Break it at Dubai — a planned micro vacation there, then onward to Bangkok. Multi-city breaks, micro vacations, multi-vacations — the places you dreamed of, folded into journeys you were already taking.
Built for Western travelers first — where favourable visa policies make stepping out of the airport actually possible.
What We Built
No juggling one platform for flights, another for hotels, a third for trips, and a stranger for a guide. Everything happens inside STOP OVER.
Every plan is built around the traveler's real layover window — out of the airport, through the city, and back with time to spare.
Before a flight-and-itinerary combination is offered, it's verified: can this layover actually absorb this plan? If the numbers don't clear, it's never shown.
Book the flight ticket, the hotel, and the full trip itinerary in a single flow, in one place.
A cab waiting, a guide who knows the city — end-to-end service so travelers never depend on not knowing a local.
One long-haul route becomes two or three planned vacations — New York → Dubai → Bangkok, each leg with its own complete itinerary.
